RIVA DEL GARDA: CYCLE PATHS, E-BIKE, MTB AND GRAVEL ROUTES
Riva del Garda is the ideal destination for those who love cycling - there are so many options when it comes to cycling routes in Garda Trentino!
You can choose between easy cycle paths along the bottom of the valley, mountain passes to conquer bend after bend, trails on unpaved roads, or unpredictable paths. What are you looking for? Here are some valuable tips to help you choose between cycle paths, e-bike trails, MTB and gravel bike routes.
The cycle paths in Riva del Garda
In Riva del Garda and surroundings there is certainly no shortage of cycle paths. For example, there is a long ring route that connects Riva del Garda to the Valle dei Laghi, for a total length of 65 kilometers along cycle paths and secondary roads.
There’s also a cycle path leading to the nature reserve of the Ledro Valley, and the so-called cycle path "Dei Laghi", between Vezzano and Terlago. Another classic for those looking for an easy ride in Riva del Garda is the path that takes you around Monte Brione, the unique rocky hill that separates the city from Torbole.
MTB in Garda Trentino
Here, mountain bike enthusiasts really have plenty to choose from - the mountains of Garda Trentino offer routes for all levels of ability, from traditional mountain bike itineraries to enduro trails. Those looking for an easy option can choose the well-known tour of Lake Tenno (signpost 736) that alternates asphalt and paths, or the “Bike Festival Test Trail – Easy” route, an 8.5 km loop around Riva del Garda that was designed specifically for the festival.
Those looking for a real challenge can instead ride along the Trail del Monte Corno, with 980 meters elevation gain, or follow the route towards Malga Campo, or even the long Anello Garda Sarca, 67 kilometers long and with 1400 meters elevation gain. In any case, you’ll be in for a true rollercoaster of emotions, between unforgettable views, daring climbs and super satisfying descents!
Gravel in Garda Trentino
There are some people who prefer not riding mountain bikes, but also are not happy with asphalt - in these cases, the best solution are gravel bikes, to ride comfortably both on and off the road.
Between Alto Garda and the Valle dei Laghi, there are really quite a few routes that are well suited to these particularly versatile bikes. For example, start with the legendary Sentiero del Ponale, which connects Riva del Garda to the Ledro Valley, and offers magnificent views.
This is only the first of many possible options, because in recent years many itineraries have been designed specifically for gravel bikes - some examples are the Ledro Gravel Experience ring, or the Cavedine Gravel Experience tour, to name just a couple. Would you like to discover local products on your ride? Then we recommend the KM0 UNESCO Comano Gravel Experience, a 40-kilometer bike tour where you’ll taste mountain potatoes, Bleggio
E-bike tours in Riva del Garda
Finally, those who want a little help to discover the beauty of Garda Trentino on two wheels can opt for e-bikes.
Everything here depends on the type of electric bike you choose, whether you want to ride on the road or on trails - among the most famous e-bike routes are the Tour dell'Altissimo from Torbole sul Garda, the trail of Monte Brione mentioned earlier or, for those who want to spend the whole day riding, the challenging Trail Passo della Morte, a 60 km loop from Arco to Monte Casale with 2000 meters elevation gain.
All you have to do is choose the route you prefer and check the location of the many e-bike charging stations!
